IN PRODUCTION
UP Above
Directed by Carl Joyce
Produced with Durham University
Up Above explores the connection people in the North East have with space, from backyard stargazers to those dreaming of space travel.
The film follows five individuals, each on their own journey, looking up and finding meaning and curiosity in what’s beyond the everyday.
Where We Belong
Directed by Carl Joyce
Produced with No More Nowt
Returning for a second series, Where We Belong turns its focus to the traditions that grew out of pit life and the reasons they still matter now.
The films look at how these traditions helped hold communities together during the mining years, and how they continue to do that work today.
Set in former pit villages, the series follows people keeping these practices alive, not out of nostalgia, but because they still bring people together.
